Cardiac Rehab

The Cardiac Rehabilitation (Rehab) Program at Freeman Regional Health Services is designed to help patients with heart disease recover faster and return to full and productive lives.

Cardiac Rehab includes exercise, education, and counseling, all designed to help the patient live a longer, healthier life.

We see a lot of different people in various stages of recovery from heart disease. Cardiac Rehab is not just for heart attack patients.  It also serves people who are dealing with valve repairs, coronary artery disease or angina.

Monitoring exercise is at the “heart” of the rehab program.  We use telemetry to observe heart rhythms while patients exercise, so we can safely guide patients as they increase their fitness level.

In addition to a structured exercise program, Cardiac Rehab offers education on diet and lifestyle changes.  In the last five years, medical research has given us an increased understanding about the process of heart diseases.  We’re incorporating this new information into handouts that cover the benefits of exercise, new research about foods that provide heart protection, and ways that stress impacts the heart.

Cardiac Rehab focuses not only on recovery, but also on prevention of future heart attacks.

Health Tracks

Health Tracks is a medically supervised program to help people improve their overall physical, mental and social functioning. The goal is to stabilize, slow or even reverse the progression of diseases, especially those with a lifestyle component.

Cardiac Rehab patients can join Health Tracks after they finish their Cardiac Rehab as a cost-effective way to maintain their healthy heart lifestyle changes.
