Social Services

“Coping with an illness, hospitalization, or a move to a nursing  home  can be difficult and overwhelming. When it comes to sorting out information and making decisions, it is often overwhelming and unfamiliar territory surrounded by many emotions, including grief and loss,” states Amanda Mettler, Director of Social Services & Activities / Education Coordinator for FRHS.  “We work closely with all the entities and persons involved in these processes to make transitions and decisions as easy as possible for all parties involved.”

In collaboration with physicians, nurses and other health care professionals, Social Services helps navigate the sometimes difficult and unfamiliar process of these life transitions.

Social Services provides:

  • Identification and assessment of needs
  • A laison between the patient, the physician and nurses
  • Discharge planning
  • Referrals for equipment and other community resources
  • Supportive and financial counseling
  • Advance directives
  • Crisis intervention
