About the Foundation

Just as a foundation supports the structure of a building, your donations to FRHS Foundation support the mission of Freeman Regional Health Services. Your gifts to FRHS Foundation help us to provide excellent health care to our rural community.

Established in 2009, FRHS Foundation is dedicated to raising money & awareness for FRHS, which includes Freeman Medical Center, Freeman Regional Nursing Home, Freeman Regional Assisted Living, FRHS Clinics in Bridgewater, Freeman, Marion & Menno and Dewald & Walnut Street Villages independent living apartments.

The mission of the Freeman Regional Health Services Foundation is to invest for the future through financial and in-kind support that will help sustain and strengthen the services we provide to the rural communities we serve.

What is the purpose of FRHS Foundation?

The Foundation strengthens your support that has helped FRHS grow as a successful health care facility. The Foundation is guided by the FRHS Foundation Advisory Committee: Courtney Unruh, Dean Dreessen, Julie Crick, Tony Miller, Dawn Stahl, Shirley Knodel, Alison Goehring, Sharon Waltner & Tabitha Schoenwald.

Why is the Foundation important?

Reimbursement from insurance companies has lowered and financial resources from federal & state governmental agencies are on the decline.  This makes your donation to the Foundation & your support of our fundraising efforts critical to health care survival.

How does the Foundation raise funds?

The Freeman Regional Health Services Foundation hosts two signature fundraising events each year to support local healthcare services throughout the Freeman, Marion, Menno, and Bridgewater communities.

  • Foundation Gala – Held annually on the last Saturday in January, the Foundation Gala is an evening of celebration, community, and philanthropy. Guests enjoy a delicious meal, entertainment, drinks, live and silent auctions, and inspiring stories about the impact of local healthcare. Hospital leadership also provides updates on current initiatives and shares the vision for the future of Freeman Regional Health Services.
  • Foundation Golf Tournament – Each summer, golfers gather at Valley View Golf Course for the Foundation Golf Tournament. This popular event features 18 holes of golf, great food, contests, prizes, raffles, and friendly competition, all while supporting healthcare close to home. Limited to 18 teams, the tournament brings together community members, businesses, and supporters for a fun day benefiting rural healthcare.
