- How did you become a part of the board?
My name must have been on the list of people potentially interested in serving on the board. I’m guessing Dennis Wollman, my pharmacy mentor, and the board chair, recommended asking me to consider the job. The CEO at that time was Dan Gran. He called me and explained the role of a board member. I was interested and was elected to the board in 2007.
- What do you enjoy about being on the board?
It’s fun watching from behind the scenes of one of the largest businesses in Freeman. I am always amazed at the talent, compassion, and dedication in every department. There is so much more than what meets the eye when a person uses the clinic, hospital or other services provided. The learning curve to comprehend how it all works is quite steep, and I’ve enjoyed gaining an understanding from time spent on the board.
- What is something that impresses you or you appreciate about FRHS?
We have an incredible group of providers and support staff at FRHS who care deeply for their patients as well as the future of FRHS. Our administration is outstanding as well. The work they do behind the scenes is unbelievable and goes on without much recognition. They work steadily ensuring others are content and healthy while at the same time mastering the ability to keep a locally owned healthcare facility viable.
- What do you look forward to for the future of FRHS?
A new healthcare campus! One that includes assisted living, independent living, hospital, clinic and nursing home. A landing pad for the helicopter would be nice as well.
