The South Dakota Department of Health is committed to promoting, protecting, and improving health in South Dakota with a goal of ‘Every South Dakotan Healthy and Strong’. In partnership with the SD Department of Health, a Community Health nurse is available at Freeman Regional to provide programs for our community & outreach services for our schools. Services are also available for low income families through the Women, Infants & Children (WIC) program. Additional services offered at Freeman Regional can be found below.
What is the Women, Infants & Children (WIC) Program?
WIC is a special supplemental nutrition program, funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and administered by the South Dakota Department of Health. It is provided at no cost to eligible moms, babies & children. WIC’s goal is to help improve health by providing nutritious foods to supplement diets, offering education on healthy eating, nutrition & breastfeeding and making referrals to other services.
