Angie successfully completed her CNL examination on February 6, 2026, achieving an advanced credential that recognizes clinical expertise, leadership in patient care, and a commitment to quality improvement in healthcare settings.

A dedicated member of the Freeman Regional team for more than 20 years, Angie has consistently demonstrated a passion for professional development and organizational excellence. Her leadership plays an important role in strengthening patient outcomes and supporting staff.

“Angie’s commitment to advancing her education and leadership skills reflects the dedication she brings to Freeman Regional every day,” said Michelle Neuharth, Systems Director of Nursing. “Her achievement as a Clinical Nurse Leader strengthens our team and enhances the level of care we provide to our patients and community.”

Freeman Regional Health Services (FRHS) is pleased to announce that Michelle Neuharth, BSN, RN, has accepted the position of System Director of Nursing. In this new role, Michelle will oversee nursing across the hospital, nursing home, assisted living, and independent living. She will provide leadership in aligning nursing practice, policies, and resources to ensure consistent, high-quality care throughout FRHS.

Michelle began her nursing career after receiving her Associate of Arts in Nursing from Dakota Wesleyan University in 2010. She worked at Human Services Center in Yankton on the geriatric unit from 2010–2013 before joining FRHS in 2013 in Community Health. Since then, she has served in a wide range of nursing roles including Cardiac Rehab, Clinic, Nursing Home MDS, Emergency Preparedness, CNA Coordinator, and Hospital Director of Nursing.

In 2022, Michelle received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from South Dakota State University and, in 2024, completed the South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations Nursing Leadership Program.

“With her experience across FRHS, Michelle is prepared to guide our nursing services into the future,” said Courtney Unruh, CEO/Administrator. “Her leadership will be instrumental as we continue to advance clinical excellence and strengthen collaboration across our system.”

On Thursday, June 13th, teams gathered at the beautiful Valley View Golf Course in Freeman, SD for our 14th Annual Foundation Golf Tournament — and what a day it was! With perfect weather, friendly competition, and an incredible show of support, the event raised $19,000 to benefit rural healthcare.

The tournament began with a 10:00 a.m. shotgun start, with teams golfing 18 holes across the course. Between rounds, golfers enjoyed a delicious meal, providing a welcome break and time to connect with fellow participants.

This year’s tournament was proudly presented by Merchants State Bank. Their commitment to our mission helps bring this event to life year after year — and we are truly grateful.

We also want to thank the wonderful volunteers who helped run the games on the course. Your energy and enthusiasm added to the experience. And a special thank-you to Lindsey Unruh Photography for beautifully capturing the fun, laughter, and community spirit of the day.
